The Institute of General and Applied Biology of the Oguz han University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan is a specialized scientific institution for the development of the biological direction of science, the fundamental study of flora and fauna, which is a natural resource.
In our country the development of science in general biology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, ecology, the study of the world of plants with natural resources, animal and microorganisms, their biochemistry, biochemistry, biochemistry, physics, biochemistry, physics and the main purpose of the institute is to conduct thorough and practical research on the rational use, proper conduct of selection and breeding activities of agricultural crops and livestock, creation of new species.
In order to produce products in Turkmenistan, research is carried out on the study of existing substances in the plants, their separation and development of innovative technologies for the production of products in various sectors of production, as well as the use of existing technologies. The specialists of our institute keep in touch with their colleagues at other research institutes and work together on research, especially on the selection of cotton.
As a result of selection work by cotton growers, new varieties of cotton submitted to the state test allow to produce 50-60 centners per hectare of cotton. The results of scientific research show that new varieties of cotton yield higher yields if the agro-technical measures are carried out in a good quality in a timely manner. In this regard, according to the words of the President: "Special attention should be paid to strengthening the scientific foundations of agricultural development of our country, the development of agricultural science, the improvement of breeding and breeding work". , are working to create varieties that are resistant to adverse environmental conditions.
Nowadays, the hybridization method of selection is mainly used in the creation of new varieties of agricultural crops. The purpose of the hybridization between the various varieties is to detect a high degree of variability in the economic benefits of the new generation of plants. Among the methods of cross-pollination in flower varieties of cotton varieties in selection, the most important is the method of collision with the highest yield (with the participation of several varieties). Especially as a result of the cross-sectional work between ecologically-geographically isolated varieties of soil and climatic conditions of different countries, the degree of variability of the economic significance of the newly formed cotton roots is higher.
As a result of the use of this important method of hybridization among the new varieties of cotton imported from different countries by the selectors at the Agricultural Research and Production Center of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute and the conduct of regular pedigree research and selection work for several years, hybrid plants have become more popular. . The seeds of the selected plants were propagated and tested with the number Li-13556 in the first variety test site of the center in 2013-2014, and in the competitive variety test site in 2015-2017. As a result of the competition, the new variety was handed over to the State Service for Seed and Sort-Testing of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Turkmenistan under the name "Ahal-5" in 2018.
The Ahal-5 medium-fiber cotton variety has been tested for 3 years from 2018 to 2020 at the Gokdepe and Sayat State Variety Experimental Areas of the State Seed and Variety Testing Service. The results of the tests showed that the average yield was 52.9 centners per hectare. Its yield is an average of 3.6 centners and 1.05 per cent higher in fiber, compared to the standard Yoloten-7 variety currently in production. The weight of cotton in cotton is 5.7 grams. The Ahal-5 cotton variety matures 4 days earlier than the comparable standard variety.
The stiffness, firmness, medium height, and non-spillage of cotton at the base of the new variety allow it to be harvested with combine harvesters.
This year, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the beautiful capital Ashgabat, it was proposed to rename the medium-fiber cotton variety "Ahal-5" and add it to the "State list of the winners of the selection" Ashgabat-140 "and put it into production under the name" Ashgabat-140 ". Thus, the cotton-fiber Ashgabat-140 variety was put into production by order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Turkmenistan No. 175-aprel of April 17, 2021.
In order to get the highest yield of the medium-sized cotton variety "Ashgabat-140", it is necessary to carry out the agro-technical measures for its cultivation within the time limits and norms scientifically recommended.
At present, in order to spread the newly created variety to large areas in the provinces of the country, in accordance with the scientific method, its breeding is being carried out.
